Capturing Amaia & Nick’s Special Day

Kalispell Wedding Photographer

What started as a small, intimate wedding quickly blossomed into a full-blown celebration of love, friendship, and connection for Amaia and Nick. Held at the stunning Diamond B Weddings venue in Kalispell, Montana, their day was filled with joy, laughter, and the kind of energy that only comes when people from all over the country gather to celebrate something truly special.

When I first connected with Nick and Amaia through their friend Grant (who I also had the pleasure of working with), I knew I was in for something special. From the moment I arrived, I could tell this was going to be a day to remember.

Diamond B Weddings | Venue

Nestled in the heart of the Flathead Valley, Diamond B Weddings in Kalispell offered the perfect blend of rustic charm and natural beauty. The venue’s open fields, mountain views, and cozy barn created a warm, welcoming atmosphere that matched Amaia and Nick’s personalities to a tee. It was the kind of place where you could feel at home, even while dressed to celebrate your wedding day.

From the moment I arrived, the energy was electric. Friends and family had traveled from all over the U.S. to be there—proof of just how loved these two are. Despite the last-minute growth of the guest list, the day flowed effortlessly, filled with heartfelt moments, spontaneous laughter, and a whole lot of dancing.

Currently living in Mississippi, where Nick is stationed with the military, the couple had their engagement photos taken down south. But Montana holds a special place in their hearts, and it made for the perfect backdrop for their wedding day.

The celebration didn’t end there. The very next day, we ventured into Glacier National Park for a post-wedding shoot. Amaia and Nick were still glowing in their wedding attire, and the dramatic landscapes of the park made for some truly breathtaking portraits. It was the perfect way to cap off a weekend full of love, adventure and I can’t wait to share those photos!

Montana Wedding Photography Tips
Inspired by Amaia & Nick’s Big Day

Planning your wedding photos can feel overwhelming, but a little preparation goes a long way. Here are some tips inspired by Amaia and Nick’s wedding to help you get the most out of your photography experience:

1. Plan for the Light

The best photos often happen during “golden hour”—the hour after sunrise or before sunset. If possible, schedule your portraits during this time for soft, flattering light that adds a magical glow to your images.

2. Trust Your Photographer

You’ve hired someone whose style you love, so trust them (hopefully that’s me lol)! Be open to their ideas, even if they sound a little unconventional. Some of the most beautiful and emotional shots come from spontaneous moments and creative angles.

3. Don’t Stress About the Weather

Montana weather can be unpredictable, but that’s part of the charm. Overcast skies create soft, even lighting, and a little rain can lead to romantic, cinematic photos. Embrace whatever the day brings—it’s all part of your story.

4. Keep the Schedule Loose

Build in buffer time throughout your day. This helps you stay relaxed and gives your photographer more opportunities to capture candid, in-between moments that often become favorites.

5. Be Yourselves

The best photos happen when you’re just being you. Laugh, cry, dance, and don’t worry about posing perfectly. Your connection and personality will shine through when you’re comfortable and having fun.

6. Consider a Day-After Session

Amaia and Nick’s post-wedding shoot in Glacier National Park gave us the chance to create stunning portraits without the pressure of a wedding timeline. If you’re getting married in a scenic location, a day-after session is a great way to make the most of it.
