What an Elopement Is

Your elopement is a piece of your story worth preserving

Maybe you want just the two of you on a ridge at sunrise. Maybe a handful of your closest people on a lakeside at golden hour. Whatever it looks like — I'm here to follow you through it and photograph every real, unscripted second.

I've spent years documenting couples in Glacier National Park and across the American West. I know the terrain, the light, the timing. More importantly, I know when to stay quiet and let the moment happen without me in the way.

Your elopement isn't a lesser version of a wedding. It's a braver one.

How It Works

From first message to final gallery

Five steps — that's it. Here's exactly what working together looks like.

01

Let's Connect

Fill out the contact form with your date, location ideas, and a bit about yourselves. I'll check availability and we'll jump on a quick call to make sure we're a good fit — no pressure, no hard sell.

02

Planning the Details

A 30% retainer locks in your date. Then I send you a planning questionnaire and we build your day together — timeline, ceremony location, permit logistics, any special requests. I handle the details so you don't have to.

03

Pre-Session Prep

You'll receive a custom location guide covering permit details, what to wear, gear to bring, and how to time your day for the best light. I'll also connect you with trusted local vendors — officiants, florists, hair and makeup — if you need them.

04

Your Elopement Day

I arrive early, move quietly, and stay out of your way. I'm not there to direct a photo shoot — I'm there to follow your day wherever it goes. The ceremony, the long walk out, the champagne in the parking lot. All of it matters.

05

Your Moments, Delivered

Within 4–6 weeks, your full gallery arrives — every image fully edited in color, plus a curated black-and-white selection. Private online gallery, lifetime downloads, full print release. Yours forever.

My Approach

I show up early and stay out of the way

The photographs I care most about are the ones that happen when you forget I'm there. The hand that reaches for your partner's hand without thinking. The exhale after the vows. The moment you look at each other and realize it actually happened.

I work quietly, move fast, and read the room. On shoot day, your only job is to be present with each other. I'll take care of everything else.

I'm based in Whitefish, Montana and photograph throughout Glacier National Park, the Rockies, and the Pacific Northwest. I travel for destination elopements worldwide.

Why Couples Choose This

Why elope?

01

Full Presence

When it's just the two of you (or your closest few), there's nothing to manage and nowhere to perform. You're just there, fully, for each other.

02

Places You Love

Say your vows on the ridge you hiked on your first trip together. No venue compromise. The location is yours to choose.

03

Your Budget, Redirected

Less spent on a guest list means more for the things that matter — incredible photos, a dream location, and a honeymoon worth talking about for years.

04

Your Timeline

No cocktail hour to coordinate. No caterer running late. Wake up, hike in, get married, eat tacos. The whole day is yours.

05

Better Photographs

Intimate settings and real emotion produce images that look nothing like a standard wedding album. The camera goes where you go.

06

A Story Worth Telling

Every couple who has eloped tells me the same thing: it was the best decision they made. The stories are always vivid, specific, and completely their own.

From Past Couples

What they said afterward

★★★★★
"We'd been engaged for two years, completely paralyzed by the idea of planning a wedding. Stan made it simple and real. The photographs are the most honest pictures we've ever taken of ourselves."
— Maya & Jordan, Grinnell Lake, Glacier NP
★★★★★
"He hiked six miles with all his gear to get us to the spot we wanted. He never complained once, and the images from that morning are genuinely some of the most beautiful photographs I've ever seen."
— Alex & Sam, Bob Marshall Wilderness
★★★★★
"We flew in from New York with zero Montana knowledge. Stan sent a full guide, handled the permit, and suggested the exact timing for the light. Then he spent eight hours with us like we'd known him for years."
— Priya & Tom, Hidden Lake, Glacier NP
