Dreamy Elopement in Glacier National Park | Janet & Jordan

Real Glacier Elopements

Janet & Jordan

Big Bend Glacier National Park, Montana
a quick story for you

A return trip to Glacier with two of my favorite people, and one of the best sunsets I've ever shot in.

Hey everyone. I want to share a session I had recently with Janet and Jordan at Glacier National Park, and I'd been looking forward to this one for a while. We'd already shot together once before, and the day went so well I knew round two was going to be something special.

The first time I met these two was about two years ago, in the dead of winter at The Clydesdale Outpost. It was cold. Like, properly cold. Somewhere around -20 with the wind cutting straight through everything. Jordan had a full tux on. Janet was in nothing but her dress. And while I was bundled up in every layer I owned, the two of them stood there smiling like it was a summer afternoon. They never complained once. Just kept staring at me wrapped up like a marshmallow, sorry guys haha.

Round Two, This Time in Glacier

Fast forward to a month ago and we started planning round two, this time in Glacier. We were both fired up for it because Going-to-the-Sun Road had just opened, and I knew the views up top were going to be unreal.

Big Bend at Sunset

An Empty Park on the 4th of July

The day of the shoot, we made our way up to Big Bend. If you've spent any time there, you already know what I'm talking about. The mountains stack up around you, the waterfalls coming straight off the cliffs, the sky going on forever. The weather cooperated, the park was almost empty (somehow, on the 4th of July), and we ended up with one of the best sunsets I've ever shot in.

Janet and Jordan were exactly themselves the whole day. Easy, adventurous, in love with each other in this really steady way that just shows up in every frame. We laughed, we explored, we took our time. Honestly didn't feel like work. Felt like spending the day with friends who happened to want photos taken. It was a long one too, and they had energy from start to finish.

Why I Do This

Looking back at this session, I'm reminded of why I do what I do. Getting to meet people like Janet and Jordan, and getting to call them friends after, is the best part of this job. Their warmth comes through in everything, and watching them keep choosing each other has been a joy to document. Thanks for putting up with me all day, you two.

More From the Day

Hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed making them. Here's to more days like this one.
