The Story
Amaia and Nick planned an intimate wedding. Then the people who love them started booking flights.
What started as a small, intimate wedding quickly grew into a full celebration of love, friendship, and connection for Amaia and Nick. Held at Diamond B Weddings in Kalispell, Montana, their day was filled with joy, laughter, and the kind of energy that only shows up when people from all over the country gather for something that matters.
I first connected with Nick and Amaia through their friend Grant, who I also had the pleasure of working with. From the moment I arrived, I could tell this was going to be a day to remember.
Nestled in the heart of the Flathead Valley, Diamond B offered the perfect blend of rustic charm and natural beauty. The open fields, the mountain views, and the cozy barn created a warm, welcoming atmosphere that matched Amaia and Nick's personalities to a tee. It was the kind of place where you could feel at home, even while dressed to celebrate your wedding day.
The energy was electric. Friends and family had traveled from all over the U.S. to be there, proof of just how loved these two are. Despite the last-minute growth of the guest list, the day flowed effortlessly: heartfelt moments, spontaneous laughter, and a whole lot of dancing.

Montana Wedding Photographer
Currently living in Mississippi, where Nick is stationed with the military, the couple had their engagement photos taken down south. But Montana holds a special place in their hearts, and it made the perfect backdrop for their wedding day.
The celebration didn't end there. The very next day we ventured into Glacier National Park for a post-wedding shoot. Amaia and Nick were still glowing in their wedding attire, and the dramatic landscapes of the park made for some breathtaking portraits. It was the perfect way to cap off a weekend full of love and adventure.

Montana Wedding Photography Tips
Planning your wedding photos can feel overwhelming, but a little preparation goes a long way.
Plan for the light
The best photos often happen during golden hour, the hour after sunrise or before sunset. If you can, schedule portraits then for soft, flattering light.
Trust your photographer
You hired someone whose style you love, so trust them (hopefully that's me). Be open to ideas, even unconventional ones. The most emotional shots come from spontaneous moments.
Don't stress about the weather
Montana weather is unpredictable, and that's part of the charm. Overcast skies give soft, even light, and a little rain makes for cinematic photos. Embrace whatever the day brings.
Keep the schedule loose
Build buffer time into the day. It keeps you relaxed and gives your photographer room to catch the candid, in-between moments that often become favorites.
Be yourselves
The best photos happen when you're just being you. Laugh, cry, dance, and don't worry about posing perfectly. Your connection shows when you're comfortable.
Consider a day-after session
Amaia and Nick's post-wedding shoot in Glacier gave us portraits without the pressure of a timeline. If you're marrying somewhere scenic, a day-after session makes the most of it.
