Vertical content is intentional, not a budget compromise. 4K vertical video looks native on Instagram and TikTok because it's made for them. A cinematic wedding film and a postable reel are different products, and couples increasingly want both.

The confusion is fair, because all three people are holding cameras. Here's the honest breakdown. Your photographer delivers the permanent record: edited, composed images for albums, walls, and grandchildren. Your videographer delivers the film: a crafted, cinematic edit that usually arrives a few months after the wedding because that's what good editing takes. Your content creator delivers the right-now: unpolished, real, vertical, in your hands within days, made to be posted rather than archived.
A common myth worth correcting: a content creator does not replace your photographer, and any content creator who suggests otherwise is selling you a downgrade. The pros complement each other. The best results happen when the content creator knows how to work around the photographer's frame, which brings us to the question every couple should ask before hiring one.
03 · The Honest Part
Do you actually need one?
Not every couple does, and you deserve a straight answer. If you barely post, don't care about social media, and a friend's clips would genuinely satisfy you, save the money and put it toward your photographer or your bar tab. No judgment, great choice either way.
You probably do want one if any of these sound like you: you've watched other couples' wedding reels and felt a pang; you want the full speeches and vows on video without paying for full videography; you know yourself well enough to know you'll want to post within days, not months; or you've been to a wedding where a guest's footage was the only video that existed, and it was shaky, sideways, and cut off the best man's punchline. The couples who hire content creators aren't influencers. They're mostly people who want to relive their day while it still feels like yesterday.

What wedding content creation costs in Montana
Nationally, wedding content creation runs anywhere from around $1,000 for short coverage to $4,000 and beyond for full luxury packages. In the Flathead Valley and around Glacier National Park, established content creators typically price full wedding days in the $2,500 to $4,000 range. Hours of coverage, edited deliverables like highlight reels, and turnaround speed are what move the number.

Eloping in Glacier? Content creation pairs beautifully with elopements, since so much of an elopement day is movement: trails, drives, lakes, light. Elopement content packages are typically shorter and more affordable than full wedding coverage.
05 · The Vetting
How to choose one (questions that matter)
Ask how fast they deliver, and get it in writing. Ask what's included: full speeches and vows, getting ready, a highlight reel, how the files arrive. A real gallery platform beats a link to a folder. Ask how many weddings they've covered and whether you can see full examples, not just their best fifteen seconds.
And ask the question photographers wish every couple would ask: how do you work alongside the photography team? The number one complaint photographers have about content creators is someone standing in the middle of the aisle, blocking the shot the couple paid thousands for. A good content creator knows where the photographer needs to be before they move there. This is, full disclosure, why I started offering content creation in the first place: I've spent close to a decade behind a wedding camera in this valley, so staying out of the photographer's frame isn't something I learned, it's something I live on the other side of every weekend.
